Whole Family Fitness Keeps Parents Healthy

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’ve added to our adult and teen fitness classes. We added kickboxing and more karate classes at our Braselton location and expanded our offerings in Sugar Hill and Buford. Legacy MMA is not just an after-school karate program for your children. We’re a whole family fitness and MMA academy. We help the entire family with fitness goals because we know that children learn discipline, dedication, and endurance when they see it modeled.  February, in particular, is a critical month to focus on fitness. It’s when most give up on their fitness resolutions and it’s also National Heart Health Month.

The harsh reality is that 48% of us have some sort of cardiovascular disease, which is the number one killer in the United States. That means that half of people you interact with on a daily basis have high blood pressure, heart disease, or have had a stroke or heart failure. It’s so prevalent, our society dedicates an entire month (February) to raise awareness and get us all doing something about it.

It’s wonderful that you're trusting your children with us on a daily basis. We’re teaching them fitness (among other things like discipline and focus) and getting them moving so they develop good habits early. But we need to take it a step further and model it ourselves. Do your children see you exercising? Do they see you making healthy food choices? You know that actions speak louder than words. You’ve probably said that to your kids at some point. But do you LIVE it?

It’s recommended that adults spend 2 ½ hours a week in active exercise. That’s breaks down to five 30-minute workouts. For busy parents like yourselves, that seems like too much. That might mean a gym membership and time away from your kids, but it doesn’t have to be. Since your kiddos are already at our facility, hang around for your class. They’ll be with us while you participate in one of our kickboxing or adult karate classes. Your kids can even watch. Plus, our classes are 45 minutes long. If you take our classes four times a week (after your kiddos class is over), you’ll have 180 active minutes, which is over the recommendation for optimal heart health.

As a reminder, your first class is always free.
